If you no longer have AC, you might consider leaving it without the upper
cabinet.  Some previous owner removed the cabinet from my '82 and I really
like the the spacious feel it gives.  I'd rather have the openness without
the cabinet than the meager storage space the cabinet provides.  It also
improves rearview mirror functionality with the cabinet out of the way.
