The valve is relatively new, replaced August, 2013, by Peninsula Automotive in Campbell after the last one started leaking.

The new valve turns easily by hand (as I've had to find out), but maybe hard enough to kink the cable.

Also, Van Cafe in Santa Cruz mentioned that the valve is installed "backwards." I'm not sure what that means. If it were backwards, the lever would work backwards, or something. I'm sure they were saying something meaningful, I just couldn't picture it. If the valve is installed backward or upside down or sideways or something, that might cause it to load the cable differently, I suppose.

I have replacement cables on the way from Bus Depot and Van-Again, so we'll see.
