A bad cam position sensor will definitely prevent running and starting.
This type of part should be harvested from a pick-n-pull junkyard so you
can carry spares.
Before buying one try disconnecting and reconnecting and removing the
sensor and cleaning the end. Too much iron debris there can interfere with
the magnetism.
