6 months ago installed a brand new GOWESTY engine, mechanic also installed brand new spark plug wires. Put 300 miles on vacation and allow a sudden lost one cylinder. Erratic but drove somewhat ok but Gas mileage down to 10 mpg. Finally located a VW mechanic in Newfoundland. He found that the a new spark plug wire died. Fairly common experience with new wires. Had my old set on board so we used that. After that all went well. Hope this helps
