I quoted it from Kennedy Engineering web page link I supplied but who knows who wrote it? Maybe the Mr. Kennedy himself? The 2500 RPM shift point referred to seems rather low? fwiw, my main reason for quoting it was to suggest that the Vanagon automatic transaxle would handle the higher HP of the Subaru. (well a Suby 2.2 anyway)
