I have never been unable to properly secure anything I put in the luggage rack using just the factory tie downs and a 3/8" nylon line. The only glitch I ever experienced was when I put a sealed waterproof duffle up there in Oklahoma at 1100' altitude and drove to a camp site in Colorado at 10,500'. The duffle expanded like a big balloon. But my lashing held fine. So, I deflated the thing, resealed it, and drove to the next location, at around 6,500'. The duffle then looked like a vacuum sealed, evacuated freezer bag. The lashing still held fine, however. mcneely
