VW part numbers (you need two of each) for ATE calipers (pad
retaining spring is cross-shaped, retaining pins have built-in spring
collar_: 211 615 231 and 211 615 232
For Girling calipers (retaining spring is H-shaped, retaining pins
use external spring clip) add 'A' suffix to above numbers.
Interesting, these ATE brakes were apparently used initially by 1963 Mercedes.
Both ATE and Girling are used on the ?'73-up? T2 "Loaf" buses and
they have the same part numbers for the shims (aka anti-twist
retainer as they keep the piston properly oriented).
Volkswagen Classic Parts have both of the Girling parts listed but
only one of the ATE ones (232). Their USA partner is GoWesty and
their Canadian one is Myers Volkswagen, www.myersvw.com .
These are newly made stainless steel ones for ATE from Brickwerks, a
British VW Transporter site. I don't know whether they ship internationally.

German Supply lists (out of stock) special pliers for rotating the
pistons into position when working on them:
http://www.germansupply.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=17318
They list individual plates in their aircooled section:
http://www.germansupply.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=16708
http://www.germansupply.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=16711
and a kit of all four (out of stock):

Beck Arnley 084-2019 is an aftermarket shim set. From photos I
suspect that it's meant to fit either caliper by leaving off the
piston-orienting tabs of the originals. It does not appear in the
current Beck Arnley catalog. *I do not think leaving out the
positioning tabs is a good idea.*
This is the only listing I found for the Beck Arnley part that
doesn't say out of stock:

There is a rumor that the Beck Arnley part cross-references to
Raybestos DS8008, available from Amazon and The Wrench Monkey. It is
not listed in the current Raybestos catalog:

VW Classic parts seem to be sole source for Girling calipers, and
their omission of one of the ATE parts may be a database error. List
price on www.vw-classicparts.de is Euros 5.82 each including
VAT. Otherwise for ATE calipers the Brickwerks ones are the only
ones priced reasonably. I have not checked with VW dealer for availability.
