Like you I didn't like the fact that my 91 Multivan's emergency brake light indicator was hidden by the steering wheel so i added an additional indicator into the instrument cluster. Required some careful work in wiring it as there is no feeds for it in the blue foil. Here's some pics to give you an idea of where it's at. They don't show it very well but you get the idea. This one is just of the gauge overlays and shows the position of the ebrake idiot light in the top left section of the image. http://www.weidefamily.net/vanagon/Files/57a.jpg This one shows the cluster and lights in action but focus is poor.
