I think you're on the right track with the AFM. Temp sensors might need attention too.

I have cleaned contacts in the distributor cap, set timing, even tried advancing it a bit. I have replaced the malfunctioning vacuum advance. The two relays are new. Idle stab is doing its thing. No terrible vacuum leaks. I also tried unhooking the o2 sensor. My next step is trying to locate someone with a working afm to try, unless anyone out there has any better plans.

Thank you for your continued help. The van is pretty near undriveable in this condition.
