Dennis,
I have worked out a kit that is probably the simplest to install that I
have seen. It uses a thin "sandwich" style plate that installs between the
oil filter and the cooler. You can install it by removing the oil filter,
installing an adapter and putting the filter back on. Then you run the
wiring to the front and mount the gauge where you want it. Mounting the
gauge and running the wiring actually takes longer than installing the oil
pressure sensor. I use VDO for the sender and the gauge. You have to have
a specific sender for the gauge and can't use the original sensors. The
other nice thing about the kit I am putting together is that the sandwich
plate has four ports in it so if you want to add an oil temp sender in the
future it is pretty easy. You also leave your stock system in place.
Finally I am going to make a second version of this kit that would allow
you to install it temporarily. That way I can leave the stock oil pressure
system in place and actually see what the oil pressure is doing in real
time without dealing with taking the engine tin of and worrying about if a
hose is touching a hot exhaust pipe (BTDT). I have been meaning to put
this out there but we have been super busy all summer and this fall we are
working on a brand new website along with selling parts, fielding phone
calls and emails, and also doing repairs and restorations. If you call and
don't get me on the phone leave a message or email me instead. I am either
talking to someone else about their van or underneath of one doing a
repair. If you want to see what we have been up to, just take a look at
our Facebook page as I update it almost daily. Van-Again
