All so true. I get my local NAPA to do this for me quite often. They do not always get it spot on even with their scanner, it does need at least a credit card size sample to get a good reading. Your other option is to use “Battleship Grey" Rustoleum, Tremclad or other brand similar rust paint in a rattle can. I’ve done this often and as long as you paint all the grey parts, it’s fine, as now they all match.
