You really need a gear reduction starter for the Subaru engine. GW sells one, and you can also use the VW TDI starter with an adapter from Karl Mullendore: http://westyventures.com/parts.html (scroll down). Either way they will be delayed if you want a lasting fix. Otherwise find a used stock starter and hope for the best.
