I have two concerns though.  First, if an adapter will fit on the 1.9 where the exhaust is so close to the filter, and second, measuring oil pressure at the pump will give a higher reading than at the bearings, and pressure at the mains is what I'm most interested in.  

I need to install a gauge on my son's van, and removing the rock shield can be a real challenge with frozen exhaust nuts and bolts.

   Those 'sandwich plate' secondary oil cooler adaptor plates to allow a  remote oil cooler and some gauges....I have used those in other vehicles
and they're an excellent solution.   They are cast alloy, however, and I
have found some with the internal passages to be somewhat restricted by
left-over casting inaccuracies.   I'd advise checking each plate to make
certain there aren't any left-over casting inaccuracies.  I've 'cleaned-up'
some slag from the molds inside the internal passages to allow proper oil
flow in one or two of these in the past.   They also sell an oil thermostat
to regulate the oil flow to a secondary cooler, if you choose to add one to your van....

  For oiling system parts, British American Transferr (or maybe that is
Transport) has every imaginable thing needed.   They have a dedicated page
for Porsche and VW stuff with adaptors for all our metric needs and some
plans for how it's done.   I've had good service from their website....
