Thanks Dennis - light behind digital clock is dead, and so are the legends, light for heater levels is on as well as the light indicating the defrost switch is on. It appears that these are the lights controlled by the dimmer and given these are on a separate circuit - I will check there first as well as the dimmer itself. Question...would one dead or non working bulb kill the circuit?

Not the warning indicators but the legends. Also is the light for the heater levers working? This lights that are controlled by the dimmer are on a separate fuse, usually an add on above the fuse panel. Common failures are the bulbs, contact with the bulbs sockets, the foil, the connector for the instrument cluster, and the dimmer in the headlight switch itself. Get the Bentley and a meter and just follow the gray/blue (I think) wire path. Dennis

At first the lights went out on an intermittent basis - they would go out but then after a few minutes would come back on. They now don't come back on even after moving some of the connections around to see if there is a bad connection. Any thoughts on how to diagnose this - I don't think it should be too difficult to trouble shoot (maybe so). In terms of fuses, I believe it is fuse 3 - which is good. It is a 1986 Digifant - Syncro Westy...I can't seem to find my Bentley which sort of sucks at the moment. Thanks, Bruce |
