We had a mystery leak on a customer's van that we couldn't find until we dropped the overhead unit (not a westy but the same under the skin). It was at the expansion valve. The later vans have this aluminum block one that I thought could never go bad. However they epoxied the unit together and over time the epoxy gives up. The part that looks like a hat on the top was separating from the lower part. After we replaced that, the system has been holding pressure and working great. We have these expansion valves on our site for not much money. Let me know if you need one or if I can help you in any other way. In a westy you are going to have to take apart the overhead cabinet to replace this valve. That is why most folks don't check there.
