hi Dean,

I didn't compare my old KYB to the new Konis, it could be by design. I do remember when I installed the Bilstein on my other Carat I have to compress them to make them fit. The Konis are not gas charged shocks so they won't extend at max by themselves, you have to pull them out. I guess the gas charged shocks have an built in extra margin length and that's what you see, similar to I had to compress the Bilstein to put them in - so in the end they have the same length when they are on the van.
