There's likely better ways to secure the table. Glue emery cloth to "clamp" in cabinet at table post? This table mod I did: https://picasaweb.google.com/musomuso/WestyFixes (a variation on the table height mod) made my bungee solution viable.

Just my .02 but I won't be doing this mod on my '88. Not only because of the fabric on pillar but because of the stock table height; the reach of the bungee would be too long. But.... I think something else less flexible could be rigged up. Flat piece of stainless steel with hinged hook at lower end that would slip over table arm?

I'm mostly kidding now, but maybe there's a huge market for a widget one could use on buses w/o pillar fabric?
