speaking of switches, is the e-brake handle switch the same or similar
type as the door dome light switches? If so, could the dirt etc. in a
really dirty e-brake handle conduct enough current when closed to
cause a dim brake warning light?

Much different thing, but my LED dome light was glowing "on" even when
switch(es) were open. I figured it must've been due to dirt and well
intended dielectric grease at switch. Once switch was cleaned, issue
stopped.
