My Syncro Westy had tinted windows when I purchased it in 2001. I had never had tint in any of my previous buses, but I immediately liked it. Privacy during daytime plus less heat load for the AC.

After about ~8 years, it started turning purple. The tint person that I had dealt with said that older, earlier films would turn purple, but newer ones with metallic tint rather than dye would not.

After I couldn't stand the purple any longer, I had her strip the old and install new tint. It has been there ~2-3 years and is great. Check back in ten more years....

I should add that my Vanagons are parked outside at 5,000' where there is more than enough UV! My '81 without tint is suffering-- the vinyl seats. My '87 with tint has a beautiful interior still.
