Unfortunately, the value of a warranty is in inverse proportion to the distance you are from the company providing it, but at least there is a warranty. So, you have the choice of a fixed amount (R&R plus shipping), or opening your wallet so your local mechanic can try and sort it out.

I figure you are into this engine at least $6000 with the shipping, partial core refund, and installation, and GW builds the warranty into the $4295 price.

What concerns me is the 60 psi cold, which indicates the pump is pumping just fine. No blockages into the pump. The huge drop after warm up indicates a bearing problem to me, it's very similar to my worn bearings opening up the clearances with heat and the thinning oil. You will be into this engine some more $$$ no matter what you do.

It's just a very unfortunate situation with no easy or cheap solution.

Stuart

Yes, I know, it's a "tough deal" to all involved., That doesn't change the fact of the motor not behaving properly for the customer who paid rather large money to get it into his van. He was rightly expecting that by paying a premium, he would have worry-free travel in his van. ~3000 miles on a new motor and now low oil pressure? Go Westie won't be pleased with that...it could certainly damage their reputation if they don't handle the problem..

I Were it me, I would be consulting with the supplier to see what he would like to have me do with it. Being clear cross the US from the source, that is unfortunate, but it is reality. It's going to need fixing and someone will be out some money.
