I found it at Home Depot in the cull bin, which meant it was discounted 70%. 1x5x12 white pine, seconds or better. Not sure why it was culled, it wasn't wany or split or tied in a bow like the rest. At Home Depot they give you two cuts free, but you have to be pretty brave to ask for it when you're only buying a cull for thirty cents on the dollar. I would have bought some Baltic birch plywood but they'd never heard of it.

I reckon I'll cut pieces off it whenever I need a little bit of soft wood not too wide with the odd knot in it.
