I had the same thing happen on my '88. For the amount of time it takes to clean and prep seam for new sealant would suggest it's not much more time to do a little more work as already noted.

I found this type of oscillating type tool image: http://images.meredith.com/wood/images/2011/06/l_Opener-203OscMultiTool.jpg great for cleaning the seam. Knock-off variations can be found for not much money.

I'm not overly familiar with tin top bus interiors but if you felt like doing more work, if possible maybe it's not too much more work to pull the interior panel and clean prep and treat seam from inside?

I went to my local body shop and had them mix up some paint. Even if applied with a fine hair brush, the new paint can look "ok". A little wet sanding will clean it up. As a still newb to body work, I found that the hard part was feathering in the edges of new paint to original paint. (well that and trying to find a match to "Slate Blue". That did NOT happen. ;)

Neil.
