I added a ground from the lower mount bolt on the starter to the frame and the starter from the 1.9 WBX engine did a fine job when I put the Subaru 2.2 in. FWIW when I lived in cold country if I got 4 years out of a battery I was happy, just to cost of living where it gets cold
