Alright!
O brother, I so know the 395.
It's one of the best. Feels like a downright adventure at those high grades
south of Walker canyon.
After I bought my (troubled) vanaru in Aug 09, the first BIG trip I did was
reno to Palmdale
so I could get a Kennedy smog plaque in my engine bay. It was just me and
the dog.
It was up in the high country I discovered the van had no heating system. I
froze at the front wheel,
only to broil later that day in palmdale... and the dog had it even worse.
Coming from Kennedy, under the shadiets spot could find, bolted on a new
muffler/cat, glued in my plaque, went to three smog shops before came up
lucky (had no CEL at the time)
Got smog approved and made the Palmdale DMV in time to get tags. The next
morning drove off headed to barstow, Vegas, S.L.C. I-80 to the
Detroit/Windsor crossing, and the 401 highway up to Montreal.
