Loose Vanagon Transmission Inertia. I took my van to have its automatic transmission rebuilt. I had a spare automatic and offered that he could possibly use it for parts. He said sure so I wrapped it in plastic and put it on the floor. When I got my van back there was damage to the cabinet ahead of the fridge, with grease marks and the carpet in that corner was soaked with oil. When I included this damage in all the things they did wrong he said that when he took the van on the "test drive" before working on it, the loose transmission flew up there and hit the cabinet.

And another time, I drove several states over to pick up a free vanagon transmission. After the guy single-handedly picked up the AT and final drive and put it in the back of my Golf... That's about 150lbs if I recall... He suggested it needed to be secured well and I agreed. He had worked for a rescue squad and told of the time a box of tissues on the back shelf of an old sedan had flown forward and cut the neck of a passenger such that they bled to death.
