That would be correct for the ultra-rare front wheel drive Vanagon : )

Maybe that is from the Syncro section? Only thing I can think of.That kind of torque, if the threads would support it (they wouldn't), would crush the bearing. The correct procedure for torquing the front wheel bearing of a 2WD is to tighten so that you can barely slip the flat washer around behind the nut, then put a dimple in the locking nut into the top groove to keep it from turning. If you don't have all your races seated and all the potential slack out of the various components, it will drive you crazy so make sure you tap everything down well with a brass drift on the races, and that you get the correct bearing races for the outer (there was a model number mid-year change in 83, I recall), and that the tab in the flat washer goes in the right groove in the spindle. It's not the top groove, but on the side and hard to see.
