The added starter relays can be beneficial. The fact that something can be installed poorly isn't much of an argument against them. I've seen lots of stuff installed poorly in vans, from Subaru conversions to electric fridges. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be done. Do them right and they are great.

The various relay kits I have seen from Jay Brown are well made and I would add one without hesitation. I recently got some more for my own use though I can make my own easily enough. His are better than what I can do myself.
