Right, it works. I pulled my new (changed prior to departing on my present extended trip) irridum sparkplugs as I was messing with the idle.... I, too had some concerns about running lean, but the plugs read "perfect". It's very easy to access the plugs, oil cooler, distributor, water pump in the 50 degree diesel/style inline gas installation.
