it appears to me that some posters may not realize Don is not talking about a 2.1 waterboxer with a separate Idle Control Unit ( mounted behind RR tail light in those vans )

and that Don does not quite realize that the Idle Air Control Device .. whatever you want to call it, is the air-flow-device mounted on the engine, connected by hoses so that air is routed around the throttle plate to idle. that an electronic circuit controls... and that in Don's system that control circuit is likely in the ECU.

I have long observed that the simpliest google search will bring up TONS of very useful information.

heck ..my own San sung phone flipped into all negative images and displays by itself... which I just *could not* find a setting for .. in hours of digging in the device. so I google it .. Bingo ! ...in under 45 seconds I see the solution. ( hidden under 'accessability' in the settings ...totally non-sensical to me ..but there it was )

amazing what one can learn just by studying .. and with the world's largrest library/encyclopedia right before our eyes.. for almost free even .. it's silly not to 'just ask' the internet about anything at all that one might wonder about.

I would at least clean the air valve out with carb cleaner .. heck .. get yer wiring diagram out and check continuity from the device to the ECU .. often 3 wires. I had one .....and believe me .I have seen THE WORST and stupid conversion wiring you could imagine.. no...much worse than you could possibly ever imagine . I found one wired so it was fast idle hot, and slow idle cold ..( opposite of desired ) or you could just have an poor connection or open wire ... in any case ..study how the mutha works.

same for DC electricity basics ... study that too ... DC electrics are not complicated at all really.
