before everyone walks away, like i said my friend DID run it on the
trailer.. he jumped the battery and it started up right away, idled pretty good,
but it does need the coolant leak addressed. it was pretty complete.. the
carpets needed to be cleaned but there was no rips or tears or holes in
the interior.. the body did not have any major damage, no bad dents or
collision damage, nor was there any rust thru or major rust issues. the poptop
seal needed to be replaced as they all do. the seller works for a oil
delivery company and often buys interesting vehicles that he finds in his
customers back yards
all in all i thought the $4k was a fair price.
remember people, if it was a cream puff it wouldn't be posted for $4k. it
would be on the samba for $14k. (the seller doesn't even know about Samba)
the seller did say to my friend that he drove it out of the guys yard
and onto the trailer under its own power. its already being flipped but the
current seller. wouldn't make much sense to be bought by someone with a
vanagon resale business to be flipped again.. on the other hand it WOULD be
a great but for someone who isnt in the business of selling vanagons, to
have as a affordable starter westy of their own.
with a bucket of warm water and some upholstry shampoo that interior would
come up nice. shampoo the carpets and pressurewash them off. use a high
speed buffer and compound and you can remove the overspray and spraypaint.
throw a set of mirrors and headlight adjusters on there and some fill
port lids and you've got a big difference. skylights and tires and poptop
seals are a given.
i dont personally know the seller, im not trying to sell the van for him.
im just saying i feel its worth what he is asking and its a good solid
affordably priced westy that could be really nice with minimal effort.
