You live and breathe in the van. Not to mention the occasional coffee or soda spill. Evaporation happens. What doesn't get vented out, eventually condenses on cold spots such as behind door and wall panels. It's worse in the Weekenders and Westies with fiberglass insulation. Water droplets collect therein, before dripping to the floor sill. That's how you get rust at the horizontal bodyseam on the driver's side.
