So, I looked closer and I have a theory based on what you guys have pointed out plus reexamination.

This is a westy, and it had the insulation in there (I just pulled the last of it a couple days ago). I'm wondering if maybe water got trapped back there, evaporated, and came up between the sheet metal forming the outer wall of the van and the metal forming the inner wall, then happily condensed on the cold metal up there.

I don't know if this goes all the way through, but I was able to slip a piece of paper between the two pieces of metal in question, pretty far in:

Seems like this seam could use a bead of caulk or something if anyone's doing a cabinets-out refurb.

Might be able to put something along the top with the seal removed, I would just be worried about messing with the fit of the seal at that point.
