I have that same 12v detector... It works really well.

I installed mine on the bench seat kick panel down low near the AC wall plug.

One thing to note... Yes this detector is for LP and Carbon Monoxide but I still installed a standalone battery operated Kiddie Carbon Monoxide detector from Home Depot in the van too. I treat this 12v LP/CO detector as a standalone LP detector. Here's why...

LP is heavier than air so it tends to gather down low, I mounted the LP Detector near the floor.

CO is lighter than air so it tends to gather up high, I mounted a separate CO Detector up high next to my rear speakers.

I've had the CO detector up high go off with LP/CO detector down low not picking up the the scent at all. This was a controlled test once both items were installed in order to make sure they were operational.

I highly recommend getting covering all your bases and having 2 separate detectors to monitor each dangerous gas separately. There's nothing wrong with being too cautious when the alternative outcome can be fatal.
