I am in Florida for a couple of months to get away from the northern weather. I made a customary visit to Cofer's/LKQ junkyard on 63rd St in Bradenton. In the back row of the import section was an '88 Vanagon tin top. It looked familiar so I checked around. It was owned by a friend of a friend of my sons and was recently abandoned. It was previously driven to a warehouse parking lot where my son has a space rented with locked up brakes and a hole in the gas tank. It then sat for a number of years before finally being impounded and hauled away. So, it may have a relatively good engine and transmission. I and others stripped it pretty clean of any other parts. I do not have the equipment with me to take the engine and trans out and it would take some work to get it home to Ohio so I am letting interested Vanagon people know about it. If anyone has questions or needs help getting what's left, let me know. Tom Stone |
