Hi foks,
Over winter break I was pleased to get my
computer to work nicely on two of our vanagon vender’s sites. I hope to be as successful on a few others in the future.
I explored bus Depot and Van Cafe spending hours reading through as many parts descriptions I could find or understand.
Well, I made a few interesting finds or unusual discoveries so I’ll share a few and hope folks will also share some of their interesting finds.
bus Depot
I found the little arguably useless plastic strap that holds the door under the sink from fully opening and bumping the front table leg.
Who would think we could even find this thing!
Yes, I bought one, and yes, I went out in 20 degree weather to install it!
I found the rubber gasket for the stock mirrors.
I found the replacement clear rock Gard stickers that go on the wheel wells! as my van was just painted I couldn’t resist. But be aware I only got one, the other is back ordered and I will not tell you how crazy the price was for each little sticker! But, they can still be found!
At Van Cafe
I found LED marker bulbs for under $3.00 so I bought 2 to try!
OK, I also bought the LED back up lights. They claim they will truly brighten up the backing up and for $30.00 a pair I like the idea of my drivers seeing as well as possible when backing up at night. It seemed a lot easier to pop them in then try to wire up some additional lights as I did decades ago.
But the nicest find for me was the rebuilt or redesigned rear heater core valve. I hope to install soon but even now just looking at the thing it seems so much stronger then the original. All metal and the O ring sticks out a bit. it just looks so much more reliable and water tight. Report to follow. That is once the VT weather warms a bit.
I was please to find it as I believe mine is leaking and the bus Depot listed them as unavailable.
So, anyone know sources for unusual or hard to find Westfalia parts? I bet you can’t beat my plastic door strap!
By the way I couldn’t check out go Westy as the site was screen reader challenged.
