I'm not suggesting you remove the guard, that would be dangerous. At work all the angle grinders ( big and small) have the guards removed, except the ones that have carbide toothed metal cutting blades ( the millers we call them). Removing the guard from a carbide toothed blade equipped grinder is completely, absolutely, dangerous.

We just find that the guards get in the way too often. Yeah, it's unsafe and all that. Full face shields are used , and gloves of course.
