In Minnesota you can register as rv or passenger vechile.  Initially the sales tax is usually higher on the rv but moving forward the annual tabs are much cheaper.  In an rv you can have a beer open in the back of vehicle.  My last 3 and both my 84 and 86 are registered as rv.  (The 86 is a pop top weekender).
