Dennis,

A company called DPD made a clone of the Behr for in dash installation. They are the same vintage as the Behrs but much more user friendly to installers. The holes needed in the floor for the hoses are round vs. the complicated shape for the Behr. They also made a shaped plastic cover to protect the unit behind the glove box.

Both units came with a plastic box which allowed installation of the radio in a face-up, vertical position, in front of the shifter.

Behr also made an evaporator to fit under the rear seat with vents for the rear passengers routed under the vehicle. It probably could be used in a stand alone role but the kits never came with controls or compressors as they were designed to plumb and wire to the indash system.
