When I repaired (soldered) all new wires to copper traces at T14
connector, I found that a thin piece of softwood covered with very
fine emery paper cleaned the copper trace well enough to help solder
adhere.

You may even find that the reverse side of emery paper works to clean
the copper trace(s).
