I assume your '85 has the later style radius rod. Regardless, I found it was possible to take the lower control arm etc. off the vehicle as a "unit".

My guess is that the rod length etc. are similar or the same as your '85. (though I don't know how power steering figures into all this) Not saying it's the right way to do things, it wasn't easy to do (especially re-installing the "unit"), but if the radius rod won't come loose, and if you're replacing the lower control arm bushings in your rebuild process.....
