Jim,

You could try using Great Stuff wide gap formula (the black can) - I find it expands a little less and is a little denser than the many of the other DIY spray insulation. I just used a half-dozen cans of it this week to refill some gaps that had to be cut in the closed cell spray foam we had installed last month to allow for electrical and mechanical.

If you give it 24-48 hours to cure .... the wider the gap/crack the longer it will need ... it sands and paints well.
