What is this auxiliary tank?

I have a larger main tank from South Africa.

Volkscafe got one sent to them by mistake. It doesn't fit the stock fuel intake. So getting it to not leak gas at this juncture took too many trips to the mechanic.

One mistake was sand blasting it because we were going to power coat it. But it turns out there were these little rubber parts or what-have- you, so it couldn't be powdercoated, and so the galvanization was kinda lost, thanks to the sand blasting.

When it's full of fuel you can feel the extra heft.
