It is rare for the front springs to break, only seen it twice on Syncros. I have also seen the spring perches on the Syncro shocks break off letting the spring then rest on the axle shaft. Once saw the axle shaft cut in two from this. All sorts of stuff happens. A front spring breaking can create a handling situation possibly resulting in loss of vehicle control. If the springs have excessive corrosion it may be wise to change them. One thing about spring replacement is that you don’t know how bad yours are until you do replace them and regain that spring function.

Earlier today, was eyeballing van-cafe's set of 4 springs. (I'm a fan of theirs) Figured i could replace the rears now, fronts later. Worst case scenario, a front spring fails, no big deal.

It's "always something" and on a higher mile bus, projects tend to become restorations of sorts.

Neil.
