I don't think lower tire pressure would mess up the alignment but I think it can make the tires wear more than they normally would if they were properly inflated. Tires inflated below proper pressure would show more bulge at the bottom as it contacts the pavement. This bulge could cause unhealthy wear on the sidewalls nearest he tire tread especially when turning etc.

I'm no expert but it does make sense about abnormal tire wear if tires are way under inflated. Whether or not 40/45 psi is under inflated also depends on the weight of the van etc.
