If you want to really get away, don't go to campsites then any noise you make only bothers you.
I guess I'm spoiled up here, but we seldom stay at campsites. We can get away to places where there are no others.
Piped water, what's that? :)
U.S. Military surplus canvas bucket and a rope is our way.
I'm teasing of course, but my point is " horses for courses" . You can't really make a statement about generators and noise etc.
