The last time I was pulled over in my 90 GL with a roof full of kayaks and canoes was a couple of springs ago after returning to Iowa from the Missouri Whitewater Championships. I was heading out of STL and going up 55 to Chicago before going home. It was very cold for mid March and I remember passing through a rather large white beam of light crossing the interstate and shortly after, I was pulled over. The head wind was preventing me from doing the speed limit, so it had to be something else. The officer wanted to know where I'd been, where I was from, where I was heading, what time I left the race, and did I have a large amount of cash in my van. He took the DL etc. back to the squad car and returned and asked me the same questions over again to see if I could keep my story straight I guess. Eventually he said that the I-55 corridor was a major drug route from Memphis to Chicago and his flashlight inspection of my van spotted the 45 caliber Ammo box that I store behind the passenger seat that holds my emergency tool kit in; he thought was live ammo. The next day I scrounged up an old canvas Craftsman bag to throw the tools in.
Now that diligent officer didn't profile an innocent VW Van driver now.....DID HE?????

I've been pulled over by the local cops 4 times here in Sacramento. Once in my old Tristar, once in my Iltis, once in my Golf Country and the last time in my Syncro single cab. Every time it was just to check them out and make chit chat. Kind of annoying, but you got to be nice to your friendly polizei!
Cheers,
Jeff

I got pulled over in my Westy in a very small town a couple of years ago.
The cop said "You were going a little too fast. I'm not going to give you a ticket though. I wanted to get a better look at your rig."
