It's pretty easy to do with a little patience and a putty knife. All this stuff is glued on with a tar-like adhesive, if it's original. You need the knife to cut through the tar, but not the carpet, so it can't be too sharp and you can't be too careless. It will be much easier to do when warm than cold. You have one piece for each pedestal and one piece for the floor going all the way across, at least on the earlier Vanagon I recently did this to. The only tricky part was, if I recall, down close to the floor along the walk-through. It's folded around a metal seam and you have to be careful pulling it away. Then you can put the whole thing in the wash if you want.

There are a few pieces of plastic trim that have to come off the pedestal corners that you do not normally see, and of course the air duct cover needs to be pulled straight back so you can get to the carpet under it.
