I purchased parts from small car And did it on my own.

It took me around 150 hours to complete. The only part I didn't do was the harness and some welding, which I paid for someone to do. I had more time than money then, so some of the money was saved by doing things like finding parts for the cooling systems rather than buying the kits.

Cost me around $3500 to put in an 2001 2.5L. With the engine being a little over half the cost. A cheap 2.2 could have saved quite a bit - I actually purchased a '94 legacy for $300, but liked the car. So I decided to fix it and get a different engine.

I don't know that I'd attempt the swap right now. It would be tough to fit it in between work and 3 small kids, but I'd assume a shop could do it in far less than half the time it took me.
