Subject: Fuel filler pipe(s) info needed
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello all,

I'm ordering dual filler ports for use on auxiliary tanks in 2wd. Reason being the SA stainless steel tanks use the front filler position where the 2wd has their stock filler.

Now the vendor asked me what pipe to make which would connect to the existing filler pipe. I see there are two size grommets for the big hole in the tank. The early vans used a grommet with a 70mm hole. Then the later plastic filler pipes use one with a 50mm hole. Sounds simple enough.

Has anyone ever made their own filler pipe? Wondering what it would take to replace the part of the pipe which goes in the tank. What keeps it sealed against the grommet? Any ideas about the size of the pipe right below the metal portion near the cap?

TIA,

BenT sent from my electronic leash
