Go into "Thesamba' go to The Forums and Vanagon as a section , Once in Vanagon go to the upper part of the forum into the stickies section . In the stickies look for the FAQ area (frequently asked questions) once there stroll through to Engine conversions and you will find a thread for every known conversion ,from 1.9 -2.1 to Fords and Subarus as well as Diesel and everything in between . Lots of good reading and always lots of opinions.
